The Sierra National Forest, located on the western slope of the central Sierra Nevada, is known for its spectacular mountain scenery and abundant natural resources. The terrain includes rolling, oak-covered foothills, heavily forested middle elevation slopes and the starkly beautiful alpine landscape of the High Sierra.
Recreation: There is trailhead access to the Kaiser Wilderness. There is also a trail that connects to the California Riding and Hiking Trail. There is a sandy area along Rancheria Creek, and wading is possible.
Nearby: Huntington Lake is about 5 miles away and offers many recreational activities, including hiking, horseback riding, biking, canoeing, sailing, fishing, windsurfing and swimming. Anglers can fish for rainbow trout, brown trout or kokanne salmon.
