Benson State Recreation Area is located at exit 30 on I-84 east, eastbound only, 30 miles east of Portland. The park is only accessible eastbound on I-84.

Microwave Fire Impact on Hood River to Mosier Section of State Trail: The trail is open, but there may be hazards such as rocks and fallen trees. Please stay on the trail and do not enter the burned area. Keep pets on a leash and out of the burned zone for safety. Day Use hours change seasonally. June-August: 6am - 10pm September - May: 6am - dusk Contact Rooser Rock (503-695-2261) for exact times. Shelter reservation does NOT waive parking fee; each vehicle must display a valid day use pass or other OPRD accepted pass or permit. No parking or leaving vehicles at the shelter site. Reservations can be made for multiple days; however, day use hours will be applied to all reservations on a daily basis. Camping and overnight occupancy is not allowed at Benson State Park Water is off and restrooms closed from Mid-November through Mid-March.
