About Deer Creek State Park

Deer Creek State Park is easily accessible from the Wasatch Front; within one-half hour from Provo and an hour from Salt Lake City. The reservoir and park are extremely popular for recreation and camping. Major park activities are water-based, including boating, water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, swimming, and fishing.Deer Creek Reservoir lies in the southwest corner of beautiful Heber Valley, at the base of towering Mount Timpanogos. Its cool waters provide some of Utah's finest year-round fishing.

Recreation: This park offers campgrounds for individual camping and Group day-use facilities are available at Sailboat Beach, Peterson Day Use, and Wallsburg Bay. Wallsburg Bay, located at the southwest end of the reservoir and is available for group day use 7 days a week from May 24th through September 1st. Peterson Day Use, located in the main entrance of the park, is available for group day use 7 days a week from May 24th through September 20th. Sailboat Beach is located in the main entrance of the park and is currently closed for construction through Spring 2026.

Getting There

From Salt Lake City: Travel east on Interstate 80 to State Road 40 to US 189,(milepost 19) to the park. From Provo: Take Exit 275 off of Interstate 15 and follow Highway 189 (milepost 19) through Provo Canyon to the main park.

No OHVs (ATVs, Side by Sides, dirt bikes)

A concessionaire provides a restaurant, boat rentals, gasoline, sundries, Zipline and Aqua Park.
