This is The Deschutes River Rec. Area, which is on the Columbia River, not the Deschutes campground at The Cove Palisades State Park near Madras. Welcome to Deschutes State Recreation Area. We have 32 miles of bike trails and 7.5 miles of hiking trails. All sites allow Tents or RVs (with a 24 foot combined vehicle length restriction in T-Loop). A-Loop electric sites have 50/30/20 amp connections available. Restroom building closed from from late fall to early spring. Port-a-potty available. There is no water available from from late fall to early spring. MAKE SURE YOUR SITE MEETS YOUR CAMPING NEEDS Before reserving, please become familiar with the particulars of your chosen site, including the size of the tent pad area and the type of equipment that you may bring to the park. OPRD is considering changing park rules that may impact your reservation including refunds and cancellations. Read more about proposed rules and share your comment. Extra Vehicles: Each campsite fee includes parking for one vehicle. Campers may have a total of two vehicles per site; extra vehicle is $10 per night. Alternative parking available only for 2nd vehicles that do not fit on parking pad. Additional vehicles will not be allowed in the park overnight. Now available: Register extra vehicles online when booking or before check-in. For general information about extra vehicles, visit the Oregon State Parks website. Please note: The campground is located near railroad tracks. Trains use their horn at all hours. Horses, even in a trailer, are not allowed in the overnight campground. There is no water available from late fall to mid March, weather dependent. Seasonal closures: A Loop is first come, first serve December 1st through March 31st B Loop, T Loop and the group camps are closed November 1st through March 31st. Restroom building closed late fall through mid March. Port-a-potty available. Sherman County Fire Ban Campfires are typically banned early summer through late fall - please call the park for information. Propane and white gas are allowed. A pass is needed to boat the Deschutes River,passes are available for purchase on our website. During summer months, motorboats are prohibited at certain times.
