Detroit Lake State Park is located just off highway 22, milepost 48. 48 miles east of Salem Oregon or 2 miles west of the town of Detroit, Oregon.

Rules & Important Info

Effective 12/24/25, the park will partially re-open after having significant storm damage. OPRD is considering changing park rules that may impact your reservation including refunds and cancellations. Read more about proposed rules and share your comment. Extra Vehicles: Each campsite fee includes parking for one vehicle. Campers may have a total of two vehicles per site; extra vehicle is $10 per night. Alternative parking available only for 2nd vehicles that do not fit on parking pad. Now available: Register extra vehicles online when booking or before check-in. Additional vehicles will not be allowed in the park overnight. For general information about extra vehicles, visit the Oregon State Parks website. Blue-green algae blooms may occur at this park They are most common between April and September, however can occur during any time of the year. Please check Oregon Health Authority Recreation Advisory’s website for current advisories and important safety information. Standard fees, cancellation and change policies still apply; no fee adjustments will be given due to the presence of an algae bloom. Detroit Lake level changes with the seasons and can be unpredictable. There is no accessible boat ramp during the fall and winter season. Moorages will be closed to reservations from July 9 – April 30. If lake levels permit, moorage will be available for first come-first serve during the seasonal closure As of March 24, 2025 the main boat ramps at Mongold Day Use Area are open and usable. To see information on current Lake Levels here. There is no dump station at the park. The nearest dump stations are in Salem and Sisters. Generators are not allowed at Detroit Lake State Recreation Area. Information on discount programs, can be found at the Oregon State Parks website.
