The cabin was built in the 1960s and was used as an administrative location for crews working in the area. The small and narrow Douglas Creek runs about 50 feet from the cabin through the cabin site. The Flints have abundant wildlife near the cabin, and it is not uncommon to see moose, deer, elk, mountain lions, or bears(grizzly and black). The area is popular for hunting of deer, elk and blue grouse. Dozens of alpine lakes in the range provide good fishing.
