About Farewell Bend State Recreation Area

Farewell Bend State Recreation Area features a beautiful desert experience on the banks of the Snake River's Brownlee Reservoir. Enjoy fishing and boating. Historic markers and interpretive displays provide information on Farewell Bend's significance on the Oregon Trail. The campground is open from about April 11 - Oct. 31, weather permitting. Camping may open earlier or stay open longer depending on winter weather. Check park advisories on stateparks.oregon.gov for updates, or call the park. Camping is first-come, first-served during the months of November through mid-April.

Getting There

Farewell Bend State Park is located 24 miles northwest of Ontario, Oregon and 4 miles southeast of Huntington, Oregon on the west bank of the Snake River's Brownlee Reservoir. The park is on the end of the reservoir, about 50 miles upstream of Brownlee Dam. Interstate 84, take exit 353 onto Highway 30, to park entrance, 1 mile. Directions are the same eastbound and westbound.

Seasonal Availability A Loop closed Sept 30 until mid April B and C loops closed late October until mid April Some standard sites in B loop remain open for first come, first serve during the winter, weather dependent Limited water availability . Water is shut off to sites Oct-April. Showers remain available Only one vehicle is included with standard camp fees. A second vehicle kept at a campsite (or alternate parking area) is subject to a nightly Extra Vehicle fee of $10. Now available: Register extra vehicles online when booking or before check-in. Water levels fluctuate on the reservoir. Current water levels are posted on idahopower.com. Mosquito populations can be high during the summer. Campfire restrictions may be in place during the summer; check ahead. Fireworks are prohibited.
