Gillette Castle State Park is the former home of William Gillette, most famous for his acting role portraying Sherlock Holmes. The public river camping sites are on the grounds of his 24 room mansion, reminiscent of a medieval castle.
Location: Gillette Castle was build atop the Seventh Sister, the most southerly hill in a chain known as the Seven Sisters.
Recreation: There are many trails for foot travel which follow Gillette's three mile long narrow gauge railroad line. The castle is open for tours, seasonally, from 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The grounds are open until sunset.

From Route 95 North or South, take exit 69. Follow 9N to exit 6 or 7. Follow Route 148 and park signs.
River campers must break camp by 9 a.m. There are no ground fires allowed on the Castle grounds and fire pits are not provided. There are pedestal grills and picnic tables.
There are composting toilets open year round. The Visitor Center, Castle, and concessions are open seasonally.
