Located along the ocean four miles north of downtown Sitka, Halibut Point State Recreation Site is a popular day use recreation site for local residents and visitors. Four covered picnic shelters and a number of picnic sites are located in this park. In addition, a half-mile hiking trail provides an opportunity to walk through the coastal spruce and hemlock forest. The ocean beach offers people a chance to beach comb and explore the inter-tidal zone. The Sitka State Parks Office is also located at this park.

From the Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport turn right onto Airport Rd. then continue onto Harbor Dr. and Lake St. for approximately 1.5 miles. At the traffic circle take the 3rd exit onto Halibut Point Rd. and follow for approximately 4.4 miles. Halibut Point State Recreation Site will be on the left side (ocean side) of the road at address 3803 Halibut Point Rd.
Daily parking fees do apply to all vehicles parking within Halibut Point State Recreation Site.
