Memaloose State Park

*Note: GPS Navigational System Error: Some GPS systems may direct you to turn South onto old hwy 30 (Historic Columbia River Highway) to get to Memaloose. This direction leads you to Memaloose Overlook NOT Memaloose Campground. Turn around options are limited and drive time could be extended 10-30 minutes. Directions to Memaloose State Park East on I-84: take Rowena Exit 76. Follow signs that say Memaloose. Turn left and re-enter I-84 West (Do not cross RR tracks); Go 3 miles to Memaloose Rest Area and Campground exit. Drive through rest area to Campground Entrance. Turn right into park entrance. (Note: If you cross over the railroad tracks by mistake turn around at the boat ramp parking lot and exit Mayer park. Turn right and re-enter I-84 West. Follow I-84 West directions). West on I-84: take Memaloose Rest Area and Campground exit, milepost 73. Drive through rest area to Campground; Turn right at park entrance. Leaving the park: traveling west - exit park and continue on I-84 West. Leaving the park: traveling east - go 3 miles west to Mosier (exit 69). Turn left to re-enter I-84 East.

Microwave Fire Impact on Hood River to Mosier Section of State Trail: The trail is open, but there may be hazards such as rocks and fallen trees. Please stay on the trail and do not enter the burned area. Keep pets on a leash and out of the burned zone for safety. Only one vehicle is included with standard camp fees. A second vehicle kept at a campsite (or alternate parking area) is subject to a nightly Extra Vehicle fee. The nightly Extra Vehicle fee is $10.00. Now available: Register extra vehicles online when booking or before check-in. Water may remain off and restrooms closed until mid to late March, due to weather conditions. Park is located next to Interstate-84 and an active rail line— trains and road noise can be heard at all hours. Please note: The maximum stay in Oregon State Parks is 14 nights. OPRD established a reservation procedure through the Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) to manage occupancy and access to popular campsites, group facilities and alternative camping facilities such as yurts and cabins which states: the maximum time allowed within any Oregon State Park is 14 nights within any 17 night period. The site must be physically occupied each night for the remainder of the reservation stay. OAR 736-0100050 section 2 states: A person must comply with seasons, overnight length of stay and camper checkout times. The reason for implementing the policy and rule listed above are to provide everyone the opportunity to utilize popular camping locations at all Oregon State Parks and to not allow individual(s) to set up occupancy for periods of time exceeding two weeks.
