Set up an alert →This is an Oregon Department of Forestry operated campground. Northrup Creek Horse Camp provides relaxing camping opportunities in a quiet corner of Clatsop State Forest. Located 40 miles southeast of Astoria and 55 miles northwest of North Plains, the campground offers 8 reservable equestrian sites and 3 reservable drive-in campsites. Two trail systems are directly accessible from the campground: The 9-mile Northrup Creek Horse Trail Loop supports horseback riding opportunities, while the 1 mile Big Tree Trail offers a hiker only experience. Both trails explore local streams and state forest lands that include stands of old growth cedar, grand fir, Sika spruce and big leaf maple.
