Selden Neck Island State Park is only accessible from the water. Formerly home to a farm and stone quarry, it was cut off from the mainland by the powerful runoff in the spring of 1854. There are four boating campsite areas on the island.
Location: The roadless, uninhabited 607 acre island is bordered by Selden Creek and the Connecticut River. It is roughly a half mile wide and a half mile long. Except for the tidal marshes, the island is blanketed with lush woodland vegetation. The island tops out at nearly 230 feet in elevation, providing some areas of potentially strenuous hiking.
Recreation: There is a marked trail beginning near the Quarry Knob campsite which leads to the quarry area. The trail encounters an old causeway, built to transfer the granite stones from the quarry face to the shoreline for shipment. Another trail extends northwest to the old farm ruins.

The Selden Neck Campground is located near state lands that are open to hunting. The season for goose opens immediately after Labor Day and archery season for deer opens mid-September. Hunting is not permitted on Sundays. If you are camping during the hunting season, please note the following precautions: wear bright colored clothing, such as a fluorescent orange vest or hat. Avoid brown, tan, gray or white. If you see someone hunting, call out to them. Let someone know where you are going and when you will return.
