Stokes State Forest has five camping areas. The Lake Ocquittunk campground has 26 family sites and 13 cabins and many of the sites are either on the lake or next to the babbling Flatbrook river. The amenities at this location include; showers, flush restrooms, and dumpsters. The Shotwell camping area contains 29 family sites and 9 enclosed lean-tos. The amenities at this location include; flush restrooms, pit toilets and dumpsters. The Haskins area has 9 group sites, which can accommodate groups from 10 up to 65 people. The amenities at this location include; showers, flush restrooms and dumpsters. The Lake Ashroe camping area has 2 sets of group lean-tos and 1 group camping site. The amenities at this location include, flush restroom, showers and dumpsters. If you are looking for a more primitive and wilderness experience then one of the 27 campsites in the Steam Mill area is the place for you! The only amenities at this location are pit toilets. All areas have running potable water.
Location: Elevations within the forest range from 420 feet above sea level near the southern boundary to 1,653 feet above sea level atop Sunrise Mountain. The park also has a "Geology Interpretive Trail" which shows the impacts that glaciers had on the area. Kettles and large stones left from the glacier can be seen. Two unique rock and water features in the park include Stepping Stone Falls and Tillman's Ravine.

Stokes State Forest is a great place for outdoor activities throughout the entire year. There are 33 miles of hiking trails leading to scenic views and waterfalls, including 12.5 miles on the Appalachian Trail. A truly beautiful hike at Tillman's Ravine takes you through a hemlock forest and crosses over the stream and through unique rock formations. Camping at a tent site, lean-to or cabins are also very popular. You can picnic at scenic Kittle Field or Stony Lake. Boating is permitted at Lake Ocquittunk or Stony Lake. Stokes is also a great place to go hunting or fishing, and the "Flatbrook" is one of the best trout fishing locations in the State. Be sure to check out the autumn colors and drive the loop up to Sunrise Mountain. Sunrise Mountain is also a good place to watch the Hawk migration in spring and fall. In the winter months when conditions permit, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are allowed on the trails and Ice-skating on the lakes.
From Route 80 West, take Exit 34B to Route 15 North. Stay on Route 15 for 18 miles until you reach Route 206 North. The entrance is 6.8 miles north on Route 206 on the right. From Route 209 South take the Milford Bridge over the Delaware River to Route 206 South. The entrance is 9 miles south on Route 206 on the left. Cancellation Policy - If you are unable to make your scheduled dates, you can make a change to your reservation for a $5.00 fee. Changes must be made prior to your check in date and time. If you are unable to reschedule, the cancellation policy for campsite (tents, trailers, primitive campsite, group campsites, wilderness campsite) is: $40 NJ Resident/$50 Out of State Resident or a two night use fee (whichever is less) and any transaction fee paid will be deducted from refund due. The cancellation policy for all other overnight facilities (cabins, group cabins, shelters, and lean-to) depends on when the cancellation is made. If you cancel seven days or less prior to your check-in date, one night use fee and any transaction fee will be deducted from refund due. If you cancel eight days or more prior to your check-in date, only the transaction fee paid will be deducted from refund due. Alcoholic Beverages and Smoking are NOT permitted in any New Jersey State Park Service Area. Pets are ONLY permitted in specified campsites which are located in the Shotwell camping area. Black bears are present in New Jersey. During your stay, all coolers, food and anything with a scent must be kept in the closed trunk of your vehicle at all times. Garbage should be promptly removed from your campsite and put in the appropriate trash receptacle. Minimum Age - Camping facilities must be reserved by someone at least 18 year old, who shall occupy and be responsible for the facility during the rental period. Firewood is not provided at the campsites, cabins or lean-tos but can be purchased at the park office during business hours. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00pm to 6:00am. Visitors are allowed at all camping facilities between the hours of 8am to 8pm. Check-in is mandatory at the forest office. CAMPSITES Tent sites must be reserved for a minimum of 2 nights. The maximum length of stay for a campsite is 14 consecutive nights. Check-in is 12:00pm (noon) and check-out is 12:00pm (noon). LEAN-TOS Lean-to sites must be reserved for a minimum of 2 nights. The maximum length of stay for a lean-to is 14 consecutive nights. Check-in is 2:00pm and check-out is 11:00am. Tents are NOT permitted at the Cabin or Lean-to sites. GROUP CAMPSITES Group campsites may be reserved for a minimum of 1 night. The maximum length of stay is 14 consecutive nights. Check-in is 12:00pm (noon) and check-out is 12:00pm (noon). Horseshoe pits are now located in all Haskins group sites and Stony Lake day use area. Please bring your own horseshoes and stake. CABINS Cabins are a 2 night minimum rental before Memorial Day weekend and after Labor Day. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day Cabins are a 7 night minimum rental. The maximum length of stay is 14 consecutive nights. Check-in is 3:00pm and check-out is 11:00am. Tents are NOT permitted at the Cabin or Lean-to sites.
