Wellington State Park boasts the largest freshwater swimming beach in the New Hampshire State Park system. Hiking trails and picnic areas along the shore afford views of one of the deepest and clearest lakes in the state. The park maintains volleyball and horseshoe courts. The Snack Bar offers a variety of snacks, ice cream, cold drinks, beach and picnic items, and souvenirs. Gas grills are allowed along with wood and/or charcoal fires for cooking. Within the park, the peninsula nature trail features picnic areas, designated fishing areas, plant identification markers, and spectacular views of Newfound Lake and Cliff and Belle Islands. A well-marked hiking trail leads from the park and provides hikers access to Goose Pond, the Sugarloafs, Bear Mountain, Welton Falls, and Mt. Cardigan. A developed boat launch operated by N.H. Fish & Game adjoins the park, providing boaters free year-round access to Newfound Lake. Boat lanes along the beach allow boater access to the park for the regular admission price. Boat launch is open 24hrs / 7days a week. Kayak rentals are also available at the park store for day use. Wellington State Park offers youth group camping only. Youth group camping is available on Belle and Cliff Islands. You must bring your own boats to get to the islands. Family camping is not available at this park. See important information section below for policy on youth group camping. Pets are not permitted in the park.
For Youth Group Sites: A $25.00 deposit will be required to reserve the site. $18.50 will go towards the nightly fee and the remaining $7.00 will go towards the reservation fee. For every 4 children, 1 adult pays $5.00 per night. Additional adults beyond the 4 to 1 ratio will be charged $10.00 per night. Youth group camping allows tents only and no pets. Youth groups consist of individuals 17 years old and younger, and adult chaperones in a 4 to 1 ration. All youth groups MUST check in at park tollbooth. Balance is due at check in and will be recalculated based on actual number of campers. Youth group sites are for youth groups ONLY and cannot be used for family camping. NH Senior Citizens are given a $5 per night discount and NH State Employees are given a 50% discount. The discount will be provided once verified at the campground. Cliff and Belle islands are only accessible by boat. Groups will need to bring their own boats to access the islands. Main Pavilion (Eagle's Perch) is located near the water's edge, great place for outings with children. East Pavilion (Duck's Nest) is located east of the park store near the trailhead, which is more secluded. Each pavilion can accommodate 75 people or less. Grills are located near each pavilion; however, it is recommended to bring your own gas/charcoal grills, which is to be used outside of pavilion. Bathroom facilities are a short distance away from each pavilion. Playground is nearby. All items must be removed the day of the event. The pavilions do not have electricity. Please do not release balloons in the air If renters wish to have outside vendors, liability insurance is required no less than 2 weeks prior to event. The pavilion is not available July 4 or the day before Special use permits are required for, but not limited to, events that are outside the normal recreational activities for the requested area. All permits require certificate of insurance liability with a minimum of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million general aggregate.
