Winnipeg Beach is a terrific place to celebrate summer and has been since the 1900s. Of the many recreation and railway-related structures built by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) at Winnipeg Beach, only the steel water tower survives. Out of use, the structure is the best example of only five surviving riveted-steel water towers in Manitoba. As in its heyday, the tower remains a prominent visual landmark in and around the beach community. The campground is close to many conveniences and activities and features 120 barrier free, full service campsites, ranging from back-in, pull-through and “buddy” sites which are intended for family and friends that want to camp together. The three bays are named Water Tower Bay, New Dipps Bay (which was the name of the former roller coaster), and Moonlight Special which recognizes the famous train service that operated for several decades and transported thousands of summer party-goers who went to Winnipeg Beach every Saturday night to dance in the pavilion and listen to live bands. Today, families are rediscovering Winnipeg Beach as a terrific place to celebrate summer. On a hot day, see the sights, stroll the boardwalk and catch the same cool breeze that sets the windsurfers skimming across the water. Although the three kilometre stretch of sandy beach is the focal point of the park, there are many activities which will keep the family busy including swimming, fishing, golf, tennis, volleyball, cycling and water sports such as waterskiing, boardsailing and boating.
